Senior React Software Engineer

Our Client is a free online television service broadcasting over 75 live channels full of TV shows, movies, and Internet videos, all on one dial. The company was founded in 2013 and is based in Los Angeles, California. TechHive, a home technology review site, is referred to as the best cord-cutting application. The product runs as an app on AppleTV, Android TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and PlayStation. The company currently has around 75 content partners. The company also as of October 2016 has about 5 million monthly active users up from 500,000 in early 2015. We generate revenue from video advertisements between programming and have a goal to continue to stay as free television.

The first commercial television set was introduced in 1928 and has been largely unchanged since! For the first time in history, TV is changing in a big way! As a Software Engineer on the web application team, you’ll have the opportunity to implement innovation on television and reinvent TV. You’ll be challenged to implement and experiment with cutting edge tools and technologies, including AI. Your work will have a direct impact on millions of people and contribute to our goal of entertaining the planet.
The ideal candidate has a good understanding of the full stack with heavy experience in frontend development. Your solutions need to be reliable, efficient, reusable and scalable. You’ll need to understand the intricacies and complexities of building an app for a wide range of TVs and set top boxes in addition to desktop browsers for millions of users worldwide.

Our frontend engineering team leverages modern web technologies such as React, Next JS, Module Federation and Google Cloud to build the best-in-class micro-frontend based web applications for Pluto TV and Paramount+. Our engineering team works closely with Product Managers and business partners to bring to market innovative video streaming applications that entertain the planet.

• Work with Product, QA and backend teams to implement requirements
• Design and implement features that anticipate failure and edge cases
• Ensure code quality with unit tests and Cypress tests
• Maintain detailed documentation of features, systems, flows and processes
• Effectively communicate and document progress via Jira, Slack and Confluence

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or a related degree) or a coding bootcamp and 2 years of experience
• Minimum 8+ years of professional frontend/full stack software development experience
• Minimum 4+ years of React web application development experience
• Minimum 4+ years of Next JS experience, ideally utilizing Server Side Rendering
• Minimum 4+ years of Typescript development experience
• State management experience using Zustand, Tanstack or similar libraries
• Experience developing and supporting high traffic consumer applications
• Strong ability to troubleshoot / debug issues
• Experience building GraphQL services that wrap REST APIs with the ability to quickly learn and use new APIs/SDKs
• Capable of working in a fast-paced agile environment
• Experience defining and documenting engineering processes and best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Connected TV / Smart TV / Embedded Devices app development experience
• Full stack development experience with Node JS, Bun or Next JS
• Experience with building Micro Front Ends using Module Federation
• Experience with CICD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins
• Experience with Google Cloud (or similar services like AWS, Azure or Oracle Cloud)
• Experience with monorepo development and shared libraries, especially Turborepo/NX
• Experience with and knowledge of SEO best practices
• Experience and knowledge of A11Y best practices
