Senior QA Automation Engineer

Our Client is a free online television service broadcasting over 75 live channels full of TV shows, movies, and Internet videos, all on one dial. The company was founded in 2013 and is based in Los Angeles, California. TechHive, a home technology review site, is referred to as the best cord-cutting application. The product runs as an app on AppleTV, Android TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and PlayStation. The company currently has around 75 content partners. The company also as of October 2016 has about 5 million monthly active users up from 500,000 in early 2015. We generate revenue from video advertisements between programming and have a goal to continue to stay as free television.

The first commercial television set was introduced in 1928 and has been largely unchanged since! For the first time in history, TV is changing in a big way! As a Software Engineer on the web application team, you’ll have the opportunity to implement innovation on television and reinvent TV. You’ll be challenged to implement and experiment with cutting edge tools and technologies, including AI. Your work will have a direct impact on millions of people and contribute to our goal of entertaining the planet.
The ideal candidate has a good understanding of the full stack with heavy experience in frontend development. Your solutions need to be reliable, efficient, reusable and scalable. You’ll need to understand the intricacies and complexities of building an app for a wide range of TVs and set top boxes in addition to desktop browsers for millions of users worldwide.

Your primary focus, as a Senior QA Automation Engineer, will be on testing and decision making. You also will communicate with the rest of the team working on establishing procedures, validating releases and enforcing quality standarts for the product. You will provide development and maintenance of test plans, test cases and test automation systems covering all aspects of software.

Working in an Agile Software Delivery methodology highly focused in creating data validationtests based on requirements.
Providing a risk assessment on the defects identified and set the correct priority and severity.
Providing a holistic assessment of data quality based upon the existing implementation vs newfeature development.
Developing and enhancing testing and defect remediation process
Leading a team of Software Test Engineers focusing on API testing activities

• Strong experience in Java coding and API services at scale
• 3+ years of developing test automation scripts with object-oriented frameworks (TestNG, Java)
• 3+ years of creating and executing tests with RestAssured
• 3+ years of performance testing for high-scale back-end systems
• Good knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
• 3+ years of experience leading projects independently with minimal supervision
• 2+ years of testing experience in Agile software development methodology
• Experience mentoring team members in test automation, STE standards, frameworks, application behavior, test coverage, and testing strategies
• Proven project leadership skills with at least 2+ years of leading engineers 
• Experience with Test Management tools such as TestRail

Nice-to-have:

• Functional testing experience on Native Apps, OTT, and web platforms
• Familiarity with Agile management tools such as Jira
