Senior Node.js Engineer

Our client is a startup is planning to build an AI-enabled platform that turns its large library of consulting methodologies into a structured, model-driven system. Methodology leaders will configure models and workflows via a web app using engines for canvases, tables, surveys, and documents/presentations/spreadsheets  Consultants will then use these models in projects: ingesting project context, having AI automatically fill models, receive next-best-model and workflow recommendations, and generate reports, decks, and spreadsheets with traceable citations—ultimately creating an enterprise-ready product.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Back-End Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js and AWS to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping backend architecture, improving system reliability, and contributing to cloud-native solutions. You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable applications.

Team will consist from Back-end and Front-end developers, QA Engineer and PM. Total team size 10-12 people.

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs using Node.js
• Build scalable, high-performance backend services
• Implement business logic and integrate third-party services
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Perform code reviews and ensure best engineering practices

Cloud & Infrastructure (AWS)

• Design and deploy backend services on AWS
• Work with services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch
• Implement infrastructure-as-code where applicable
• Optimize performance, availability, and cost-efficiency
• Ensure proper monitoring, logging, and alerting

Architecture & System Design

• Contribute to system architecture and technical decisions
• Design microservices and distributed systems
• Improve scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability
• Participate in technical planning and estimations

Security & Quality

• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms
• Apply security best practices and data protection standards
• Write unit, integration, and performance tests
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in Node.js (Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks)
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
• Solid experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Advanced level of English

• Experience with TypeScript

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments
