Project details

The role is part of our client's Architecture function and focuses on defining Solution Architecture for both custom-built applications and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions.

The technology landscape includes Java/JEE, .NET, cloud-based services, AWS and integration platforms such as MuleSoft.

The Solutions Architect will take ownership of the architecture for assigned solutions and products, ensuring the quality, integrity and consistency of the technical design throughout the project lifecycle. The role covers architecture patterns, integrations, cloud adoption, security, scalability, performance and implementation decisions.

Your Team

You will work as part of an Architecture team and collaborate closely with enterprise architects, development teams, project managers, business stakeholders and external technology partners.

This is a senior, hands-on architecture role with responsibility for leading technical discussions, defining solution designs and ensuring that implementation teams follow the agreed architecture and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design key technical component solutions and own the end-to-end technical architecture and implementation approach.
  • Lead and participate in solution design sessions with business and IT teams.
  • Define architecture and high-level design documentation.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Define and promote technical and development best practices.
  • Define appropriate architecture patterns, integration approaches and cloud adoption strategies.
  • Design and govern integrations, including REST/SOAP services and platforms such as MuleSoft.
  • Assess different solution options considering business requirements, cost, security, scalability, maintainability and operational needs.
  • Identify potential application performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
  • Identify application and code security risks and recommend appropriate remediation.
  • Perform architecture and code reviews and ensure adherence to agreed standards.
  • Define system components, subsystems, interfaces and how they work together.
  • Ensure solution specifications and architecture documentation are maintained and controlled.
  • Provide design principles covering integration, performance, reliability, manageability and security.
  • Collaborate with project management and development teams on planning, sizing, gap analysis and project reviews.
  • Coordinate technical streams to ensure successful delivery of integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to architecture governance and reusable architecture assets for future projects.

Skills

  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5–7 years of relevant technology experience, including experience within Microsoft technology environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Solutions Architect.
  • Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise-level solutions.
  • Good knowledge of Java/JEE and Microsoft/.NET technology environments.
  • Strong understanding of REST/SOAP web services and integration architecture.
  • Experience with integration platforms; MuleSoft experience is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of cloud architecture and SaaS, PaaS and IaaS models.
  • Experience with cloud platforms; AWS experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with both custom software development and the integration/configuration of COTS products.
  • Understanding of ERP/CRM architectures and enterprise application landscapes.
  • Experience delivering solutions using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Understanding of application security, scalability, performance and reliability considerations.
  • Ability to produce clear architecture and high-level design documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical solutions to senior business stakeholders.
  • Strong English communication skills.
