Project details

Reporting to the Senior Data Architect, the Data Solution Architect will be responsible for designing and delivering technical data solutions that support the client's business needs. This role is hands‑on and technology‑focused, working across cloud platforms, integration patterns, and data services. You will collaborate closely with the wider data and architecture community to ensure that all solutions are aligned with the client's Unified Architecture framework and policies, scalable across the organisation, and supportive of client's data strategy and operational goals.

You will join a broader data and architecture environment that currently spans separate data engineering, data analytics, and data governance teams. The role works closely with the wider architecture function, including solution architects, to support large-scale data initiatives across the organisation within a complex and evolving data landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure cloud‑based data solutions that support the client's strategic priorities and operational requirements.
  • Ensure that solution architectures and technical designs comply with the client's Unified Architecture framework, architecture principles, and policy requirements.
  • Document the client's technical standards at solution level and support their adoption internally and with external partners delivering on our technical stack.
  • Contribute to solution design documentation from a data and integration perspective, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
  • Design and optimise components of client's data systems including ingestion, transformation, orchestration, distribution, analytics enablement, and ML‑pipeline integration.
  • Work with data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) to support real‑time and event‑driven integration use cases.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, data engineers, data governance specialists, and business stakeholders to define data flows, system interfaces, and consumption patterns.
  • Partner with the Data Governance team to embed data privacy, quality, and compliance principles into solution designs.
  • Maintain high‑quality architectural diagrams and documentation using enterprise‑grade modelling standards and tools.
  • Support the full data project lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and transition to operations.
  • Interact with and manage external vendors and delivery partners to ensure technical alignment and solution quality.
  • Provide guidance on BI and reporting solution integration to support consistency with IATA’s reporting landscape.

Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on technical experience in data solution architecture, including experience in designing and building modern cloud-based data solutions across the data consumption, integration, and distribution spectrum.
  • Good understanding of architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), data governance, and enterprise data strategy.
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native data platforms (AWS – must, Snowflake, and GCP), and familiarity with data integration and orchestration tools · Experience with business intelligence tools and ETL technologies.
  • Knowledge of data integration, orchestration, and streaming technologies, including Kafka.
  • Experience supporting ML initiatives, including designing or contributing to ML data pipelines for model preparation, deployment, or monitoring.
  • Ability to collaborate and excel in complex, cross-functional teams involving technical staff, data scientists, business analysts, and business stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating with or overseeing external vendors and technology partners.
  • Strong familiarity with enterprise diagramming and documentation tools and standards.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization
