Senior Android Software Engineer

Our Client is a free online television service broadcasting over 75 live channels full of TV shows, movies, and Internet videos, all on one dial. The company was founded in 2013 and is based in Los Angeles, California. TechHive, a home technology review site, is referred to as the best cord-cutting application. The product runs as an app on AppleTV, Android TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and PlayStation. The company currently has around 75 content partners. The company also as of October 2016 has about 5 million monthly active users up from 500,000 in early 2015. We generate revenue from video advertisements between programming and have a goal to continue to stay as free television.

The first commercial television set was introduced in 1928 and has been largely unchanged since! For the first time in history, TV is changing in a big way! As a Software Engineer on the web application team, you’ll have the opportunity to implement innovation on television and reinvent TV. You’ll be challenged to implement and experiment with cutting edge tools and technologies, including AI. Your work will have a direct impact on millions of people and contribute to our goal of entertaining the planet.
The ideal candidate has a good understanding of the full stack with heavy experience in frontend development. Your solutions need to be reliable, efficient, reusable and scalable. You’ll need to understand the intricacies and complexities of building an app for a wide range of TVs and set top boxes in addition to desktop browsers for millions of users worldwide.

Our frontend engineering team leverages modern web technologies such as React, Next JS, Module Federation and Google Cloud to build the best-in-class micro-frontend based web applications for Pluto TV and Paramount+. Our engineering team works closely with Product Managers and business partners to bring to market innovative video streaming applications that entertain the planet.

Your primary focus, as a Senior Android Developer, will be on developing and decision making. You also will communicate with the rest of the team (US and Ukraine) working on creating the new functionality and maintaining of existing one. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.

Detailed list of responsibilities

• Discuss business and technical/architectural solutions;
• Build new features together with the client according to business requirements;
• Build infrastructure for the new project from scratch, implement changes to the existing projects;
• Translate complex functional, technical and business requirements into architectural designs;
• Communicate with the customer.

We don’t want engineers who just write great code, we want engineers that own and stand behind what they build. We won’t tell you how to solve the problem, we’ll give you clear goals and objectives, and you’ll work with our team to test, iterate, architect, build, and deploy solutions that directly impact our KPIs. Required:

• Strong technical design skills;

• Expert understanding and ability to implement advanced data structures;

• Experience mentoring other engineers at all levels;

• Good understanding of android platform; 

• Сonfident knowledge of development patterns;

• Solid Java programming skills;

• Experience with version control system (Git);

• Familiar with both Backend and FrontEnd development;

• Understanding of common principles and modern trends in android development;

• Development experience for mobile phones, tablets, android TV, chromecast, etc.

  Good to have: 

• Experience with more components of our technology stack ( Node.JS, Javascript, React, Express, Hapi.JS, Redis, MongoDB, Git, AWS, Java, Brightscript, HTML5)
