Project details

This project focuses on assessing and enhancing the client’s PMO and governance capabilities within a complex, multi-project environment. The engagement aims to identify structural gaps in portfolio prioritisation, accountability, and delivery performance, and to define a clear path toward a more value-driven delivery model. Through a structured diagnostic, the team will deliver evidence-based insights and actionable recommendations. The outcome is a practical transformation roadmap aligned with the client’s strategic objectives.

Your Team

You will join a small, senior team acting as a centre of expertise for identity and integration. The team is responsible for setting standards, reviewing solution designs and providing guidance to delivery teams rather than doing only operational support. You will collaborate with architects, security and product teams, and occasionally with external partners, to ensure that new and ongoing initiatives align with the organisation’s cloud and identity strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment of governance-related capability areas, including portfolio prioritisation, ownership structures, and delivery performance metrics.
  • Evaluate existing PMO frameworks, governance models, and processes to identify structural gaps and improvement opportunities. 
  • Conduct comprehensive documentation reviews across governance and portfolio management workstreams. 
  • Analyse project intake, prioritisation mechanisms, and portfolio visibility at enterprise level. 
  • Assess clarity of ownership and accountability across business and technology functions. 
  • Define and apply structured evaluation methods (e.g., heat maps, scoring models) to assess capability maturity and performance. 
  • Develop evidence-based insights and recommendations to strengthen governance, transparency, and decision-making. 
  • Collaborate closely with PMO leadership and key stakeholders to validate findings and ensure alignment.
  • Support the development of actionable recommendations and transformation roadmaps. 
  • Contribute to cross-functional workstreams, ensuring consistency of findings across governance, delivery, and coordination areas

Skills

  • Proven experience as a PMO practitioner within complex, enterprise-level environments
  • Strong background in governance design, portfolio management, and process standardisation
  • Demonstrated experience assessing and improving PMO capabilities, structures, and performance
  • Deep understanding of project and portfolio management frameworks (e.g., PMO best practices, governance models, delivery metrics)
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders, including PMO leaders and executive teams
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate observations into structured insights and recommendations
  • Experience conducting documentation reviews, stakeholder interviews, and capability assessments
  • Ability to design and apply evaluation tools such as heat maps, scoring models, or maturity assessments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and concisely
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to work across multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments during discovery and analysis phases
