About the Client

Major Big Four professional services firm operating in Luxembourg. Financial services sector, CSSF/PSF regulatory environment.

Project details

The client runs an internal Digital Factory — a product company inside the firm — that builds software for their Tax, Assurance, Consulting, and Corporate services lines. Five product verticals, ~50 active projects, Azure-based stack, mix of local (Luxembourg) and offshore delivery teams.

Your Team

The candidate joins Brightgrove’s embedded team alongside existing placements: Product Owners, Engineering Leads and other specialists across verticals.
On client side, works with the Technology Solutions Lead and collaborates daily with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, and dev teams across verticals.
The client’s Digital Factory has three pillars: Product Management, Technology & Engineering, and Digital Operations. This role sits within Technology & Engineering

What's in it for you

  • Interview process that respects people and their time
  • Professional and open IT community
  • Internal meet-ups and resources for knowledge sharing
  • Time for recovery and relaxation
  • Bright online and offline events
  • Opportunity to become part of our internal volunteer community

Responsibilities

Architecture Leadership & Governance
• Establish the architecture function across the Digital Factory — define roles, processes, standards, and review mechanisms that don’t exist today
• Act as the Technology Solutions Lead’s trusted advisor on all technical architecture decisions, trade-offs, and strategic direction
• Create and chair an Architecture Review Board (or equivalent) to ensure consistency across verticals
• Define enterprise architecture standards: API design, integration patterns, data models, security, deployment, shared component strategy
• Own the technical roadmap at portfolio level — aligning vertical-level technical decisions with overall Digital Factory strategy
Scaling the Architecture Team
• Assess current technical leadership in each vertical — identify gaps, strengths, and where dedicated solution architects are needed
• Define solution architect profiles per vertical (what skills, seniority, and domain knowledge each one needs)
• Participate in hiring: write technical JDs, conduct architecture-level interviews, evaluate candidates for vertical SA roles
• Mentor and support solution architects once placed — ensure consistency, share patterns, resolve cross-vertical architectural conflicts
• Build an architecture community of practice across the Digital Factory
Cross-Vertical Technical Leadership
• Unblock cross-vertical dependencies — the single biggest delivery problem. This role fixes the structural cause, not just individual blockers.
• Design integration architecture between verticals — how products share data, APIs, components, and platform services
• Review and challenge existing architectures — assess technical debt, monorepo implementation, shared library patterns, and propose realistic improvement plans
• Evaluate technical feasibility of new initiatives before they enter the portfolio
• Provide independent technical perspective when product managers (who are often domain experts, not tech people) make architectural decisions they shouldn’t be making
Stakeholder Management
• Work directly with the Technology Solutions Lead — translate his strategic vision into architectural reality
• Interface with Product Leads across verticals (each with different personalities, priorities, and technical maturity levels)
• Coordinate with delivery teams on architecture implementation — set standards they can follow
• Present architectural decisions and trade-offs to Partner-level stakeholders when needed
• Support Brightgrove’s strategic positioning by demonstrating visible architectural leadership that builds client confidence

Skills

  • 8–12+ years in software engineering with at least 3–5 years in a solution/enterprise architect role

  • Deep .NET expertise — the client’s technical interview drills into .NET internals. This is non-negotiable.

  • Strong Azure architecture: App Services, AKS, Functions, SQL, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, Monitor, Azure DevOps. Designs and deploys, not just diagrams.

  • Experience establishing architecture governance in organizations that didn’t have it — defining standards, review processes, decision frameworks

  • Track record of managing or mentoring other architects / tech leads across multiple teams or products

  • Web development background (Angular or React, TypeScript) — needs to credibly evaluate frontend architectural decisions

  • Strong SQL and data modeling; NoSQL (Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch) experience

  • Clear technical communication — writes architecture decisions, presents to executives, creates standards docs that people actually follow

  • English fluency (spoken and written)

  • Degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related

  • EU-based, willing to travel to Luxembourg frequently (1–2 weeks/month, heavier in first 6 months)
