Senior Golang Software Engineer

Our Client is a free online television service broadcasting over 75 live channels full of TV shows, movies, and Internet videos, all on one dial. The company was founded in 2013 and is based in Los Angeles, California. TechHive, a home technology review site, is referred to as the best cord-cutting application. The product runs as an app on AppleTV, Android TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and PlayStation. The company currently has around 75 content partners. The company also as of October 2016 has about 5 million monthly active users up from 500,000 in early 2015. We generate revenue from video advertisements between programming and have a goal to continue to stay as free television.

The first commercial television set was introduced in 1928 and has been largely unchanged since! For the first time in history, TV is changing in a big way! As a Software Engineer on the web application team, you’ll have the opportunity to implement innovation on television and reinvent TV. You’ll be challenged to implement and experiment with cutting edge tools and technologies, including AI. Your work will have a direct impact on millions of people and contribute to our goal of entertaining the planet.
The ideal candidate has a good understanding of the full stack with heavy experience in frontend development. Your solutions need to be reliable, efficient, reusable and scalable. You’ll need to understand the intricacies and complexities of building an app for a wide range of TVs and set top boxes in addition to desktop browsers for millions of users worldwide.

Our frontend engineering team leverages modern web technologies such as React, Next JS, Module Federation and Google Cloud to build the best-in-class micro-frontend based web applications for Pluto TV and Paramount+. Our engineering team works closely with Product Managers and business partners to bring to market innovative video streaming applications that entertain the planet.

Design and continuous maintenance of data-intensive, highly scalable API services within a Kubernetes environment
Leading the design, implementation, and deployment of new, scalable, and secure Golang services.
Seamlessly integrating external services into our ecosystem.
Embracing test-driven development practices to ensure robustness and reliability.
Expert troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
Actively participating in code reviews to uphold team's best practices and processes.
Playing a pivotal role in the design and architecture phases of upcoming features and services.
Collaborating effectively with cross-functional project team members from Product, Program
Management, and QA.
Providing realistic, reasonable estimates during Quarterly PI planning, considering potential
setbacks and external constraints.
Prototyping innovative technologies to optimize costs and enhance engineering velocity

• BS degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required
• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• At least 3+ years of most recent experience dedicated to building micro-services using GoLang
• Demonstrated work ethic with a strong sense of ownership, care, self-motivation, team player, and thoughtfulness
• Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Very proficient with GoLang and a strong advocate of GoLang best practices and community convention
• Firsthand experience in implementing authorization, authentication, multi-tenancy, and (REST & gRPC) micro-services; micro-front-end and GraphQL framework is a plus
• Understanding of the authorization model, RBAC, ABAC
• Experience with Bash, GNU Make, and Git is necessary
• AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes are preferred
• Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka and the ability to develop stream-processing applications
• Prior experience collaborating within a globally distributed team
